The Florida Keys has a rich history from American Indians, Spanish explorers, ship wrecks on the treachous coral reefs, unique fauna and flora. Only in the Florida Keys will you find our Key deer - a deer about the size of a large dog. In the Middle Florida Keys in Marathon, you will find The Crane Point Museum and Nature Center, a 63 acre preserved wood hammock, to see what the Florida Keys looked like in the early nineteen hundreds.
The Florida Keys' has 2 airports, one in Key West and the other in Marathon. The Key West International airport has many daily flights to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Tampa. The Marathon airport which is 15 minutes from Duck Key Marathon [MTH] is an uncontrolled, paved airport. The runway is 5000' long and local traffic is on 122.8. This airport is unusual in that it allows touch and go traffic. There are two FBO's with lots of tiedowns and hangars.
Driving from the mainland Florida to the Duck Key area takes approximately 2 hours. Duck Key is located 61 mile marker, on the Atlantic Oceanside. Duck Key is my speciality! I have lived on Duck Key many years and having been a real estate agent on Duck Key, I have been in nearly every Duck Key home.
Although my speciality is selling Duck Key properties, I am also knowledgable of all the Florida Keys, including Islamorada, Long Key, Grassy Key, Marathon, the Lower Keys, Key West, and the Upper Keys.
